In a parliamentary debate last night, George made a speech defending the Goverments's European Union Bill, currently in the committee stage of the House of Commons. The Bill aims to assert the sovereignty of the British parliament, whilst enusring that a public referendum would be triggered should any government look to cede further powers to the European Union. George spoke in favour of this move, also discussing the merits of an ammendment to the Bill that would further strengthen the referendum lock. "The reason why I think that referendums really can work is that they bring some brutal common sense from the British public to complicated debates". To read the whole debate, click here.
