The funding will be used to restore the count house and the carpenter’s shop on the site and these will be renovated into 9 workspace units marketed at the creative industries. The Grade II listed buildings of the former Camborne School of Mines already operates a fantastic museum and with the Council also delivering £800,000 toward the scheme the new funding will both deliver preservation of mining heritage and a boost to the local economy.
George said: ‘I am thrilled that European convergence funding has been found for this project and I know that many have worked hard for this result. We have a unique mining legacy in this part of Cornwall and whilst this grant will celebrate that it also looks to the future.'
