George attended the morning assembly, which was followed by a Q & A session where he was able to explain the work he did as an MP. He then met with pupils on the School Council and was given a tour by the Chair of Governors and the Headmaster.
George said ‘It was great to visit Kehelland and it is clear why the school is so popular in the area. The pupils really engaged with the staff and I was particularly impressed with their character-building project known as ‘Virtues’.’
George was welcomed by the Chair of Governors, Ms Christine Williams and the Headmaster, Mr Geoff Smith.
During the Q & A he was grilled on why he became an MP, how he became one but, perhaps most unusually, how he did his tie up in the mornings. At the School Council the pupils discussed how they had been elected to represent their friends and also what resources they felt the school needed.
There are currently ongoing discussions with the developer of a nearby site and the school as to whether a new development might mean a much-needed classroom for Kehelland.
The school is very popular and is planning on catering for 90 pupils by September this year. For more details, click here.
