George, in his capacity as Cornish MP and DEFRA Minister visited the Royal Cornwall Show over the weekend. A packed itinerary saw him meet up with a variety of organisations, such as the Cornwall Young Farmers Club, Duchy College, Dairycrest and the NFU. He also found time to visit the Rare Breed Pigs Section where his family were showing their champion British Lops.
George said ‘It was brilliant to be back at what I believe is the best agricultural show of the year. The Royal Cornwall is a hugely popular event that is still growing from strength to strength and it is an example to others in keeping farming at its centre but also broadening its appeal. As ever, I really enjoyed my time there and it was great to meet so many innovative rural organisations.’
Held at the Royal Cornwall showground near Wadebridge on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week, the show saw almost 120,000 visitors over the three days. The Countess of Wessex was this year’s show president and preparations are already in place for next years event.
