On Friday morning, George was delighted to be able to visit Zelda School in Gweek, which has now been running for 18 months. The school is currently attended by 24 children between the ages of 4 and 6, and has a strong focus on play and outdoor based learning. It recently received a good ofsted report, and is looking to achieve ‘free school’ status. This will secure funding enabling it to expand to educate children up to the age of 7.
George was greeted by 12 extremely enthusiastic children, as well as some very supportive parents, and said “I have always been a big believer in the importance of nursery age children being outdoors and combining this with play-based learning. I grew up on a farm and was able to take this for granted, it is great to see a school that offers this in a novel way, and to see such happy children.”
