George visited the B4 Project – Bringing Back Black Bees - in Paradise Park, Hayle. The project recently won funding to encourage the use of the Cornish Black Bee by beekeepers, strengthening the local stock and helping our native biodiversity. George took the opportunity to don a bee-suit and spend time at the observation hive learning about the important Cornish species of honey bee.
He was joined by members of the West Cornwall Beekeepers Association who have been helping to run the B4 project and fighting for more native breed use given the dangers of disease from imported bees.
George said: ‘It was great to visit Paradise Park again and to learn of the B4 Project to promote our own Cornish Black Bee. Bees play an integral role in our bio-security and I full support the promotion of our unique native species.’
