George Eustice, the MP for Camborne and Redruth has praised the "extraordinary" achievement of Redruth School which has just been confirmed as one of the top 100 secondary schools in the country for sustained improvement.
Schools minister Nick Gibb recently wrote to Craig Martin, the head teacher of Redruth to congratulate the school for its sustained improvement since 2008 and to confirm that it was ranked within the top 100 schools in the country for achievement.
The percentage of pupils achieving the target of 5 GCSEs grade A-C including English and Maths has jumped from 26 percent in 2008 to 49 percent last year and 57 percent in the latest published figures for 2011.
George Eustice MP said, "Redruth School has made extraordinary progress in the last few years and I am incredibly impressed by what has been achieved by Craig Martin and his team and the pride taken by students at this school."
"This year the school has introduced a new uniform designed by the students and there is some great work being done to encourage excellence and target extra teaching support where it is needed."
Last summer Redruth School was chosen to host a county wide meeting between head teachers from Cornish schools and Michael Gove, the Education Secretary.
