“A great Cornish success story” - George Eustice MP praises work of “fantastic local firm”
Speaking after a visit to Teagle Manufacturing Limited in Blackwater, local MP George Eustice has called the firm “a great Cornish Success story”.
The family run company manufacture agriculture equipment which they export all over the world. They have seen extraordinary growth in the last ten years, and now employ 150 people, including an apprentice.
Mr Eustice said “Britain needs to rebalance its economy and start making things again: Teagle’s farm machinery is a fantastic example of what can be achieved, and is a great Cornish success story. I was incredibly impressed by the skills and processes I saw on my visit to the factory, and it is good to see a world beating factory based in Cornwall.
I would like to see more support for manufacturing businesses. I think there is a danger that all the support goes to business sectors which are fashionable and tick the box for government departments. But we need to be more willing to lend a hand to those companies which have a proven track record and might achieve a lot more with some targeted help on things like developing export markets and research and development.”
George Eustice has previously called for the Government to devise a scheme that would give support to businesses that are a long way from their markets by reducing the amount of fuel tax that they pay.
