George Eustice MP was impressed on a visit to the award-winning Kind Edward mine in Pool. The mine museum boasts several unique artefacts, including the only working examples of several important tin-mining machines.
The mine museum has restored the original Holman winder and the 1870 Harvey compressor and both are housed in the newly restored winder house. This restoration was made possible by a major grant from Cornwall Council as part of their ongoing commitment to promoting the mining heritage of the area.
This Summer the museum also boasts a new exhibition of the history of Holman Bros Ltd Camborne and drilling equipment made by that company which was so important to the area.
George Eustice said "I was very glad to be invited to tour the Kind Edward Mine Museum. It is really important that the county makes the most of our fantastic mining heritage and the volunteers at this museum have done an excellent job in showcasing the world-leading industry that happened here. I was impressed by the many restoration projects, both of machinery and buildings, and would encourage tourists and locals alike to make a visit."
