George Eustice MP was delighted to congratulate Councillor Christopher Jordan on being presented with a Cornwall Celebrating Volunteering Award on Friday. Christopher is Treasurer of the Cornwall Peoples First, a self-advocacy group for people with learning difficulties in Cornwall.
The group encourages people with a learning difficulty to meet up together to talk and have fun. They help each other and campaign and lobby about things that are important to them.
Since Christopher became the Treasurer in July 2007, he has made significant improvements to the way the job is done. He goes into the office every week to go through all invoices, Withdrawing money out from the bank and keeping the petty cash system running. He also ensures the annual return is done on time.
The award reads "Volunteering Appreciation Award for the valuable contribution made to your community through volunteering. This award is county wide".
Christopher remains on of the Trustees of Cornwall People First.
