Around fifty MPs and Peers from all parties hotfooted it from Prime Minister’s Question Time on Wednesday to take part in the Sport Relief Westminster Mile. The event comes ahead of thousands of similar events to be held across the country on Sunday 25th March. Camborne and Redruth MP, George Eustice, a keen amateur runner, crossed the line first in a time of 5 minutes and 28 seconds.
Comic Relief first launched Sport Relief in 2002, and five campaigns later it has turned into a truly national event, with millions of people taking part and raising over £127million. At its heart sits the Sport Relief Mile, where young and old across the length and breadth of the UK take to the streets to challenge themselves, get active, raise cash and change lives.
George Eustice MP said, “Sport Relief does some great work supporting vulnerable people living unimaginably tough lives both in the UK and across the world's poorest countries. I hope that the appeal gets strong support again this year, and would encourage everyone who can to get involved.”
In the Camborne and Redruth constituency a Sport Relief Mile is being held at the Carn Brea athletics track in Pool. If you are interested in taking part, or just supporting, further details can be found at my.sportrelief.com
