The Transport Secretary, Justine Greening, announced today that the Government will fund the Camborne-Pool-Redruth Transport Package.
The scheme opens the door to major private sector investment which, it is estimated, will create up to 6000 new jobs by 2030 and more than half of those in the near term, up to 2021.
George Eustice has been pressing Ministers to approve the scheme since his election in May 2010, including questioning the Prime Minister on the matter. George said, “This announcement is a fantastic result for the Camborne, Redruth area and unlocks the potential for thousands of jobs to be created in the coming decade. I was pleased that, despite the economic mess that we have inherited, the Government have found funds to invest in vital infrastructure improvements such as this one.”
