Last week George visited a company that helps the long-term unemployed back into work. 'Working Links' in Redruth give support specificallt to those people who have been unemployed for over a year. They have four consultants, one who builds relationships with local businesses, sourcing job opportunities, and three others that help between 60 and 70 cilents at any given time.
Speaking after his visit, George said, "I was very impressed by the team at Working Links and am delighted that they are one of the groups who will be taking forward the Government's new Work Programme. We need to have a much broader and more diverse network of support to help people back into work.
"Everyone is unique. Some people need help getting their self-confidence back, some need skills training, some need practical support with things like transport and some need a helping hand to help them start up their own small business.
"The answer lies in having lots of different schemes out there but with one single objective – helping people move off benefits and into work."
