As of last week, people can now earn £9,440 before paying income tax, as part of the Chancellor’s drive to help hardworking people. Alongside other Government tax cuts, this has now led to a total of over £2.2 million people taken out of income tax altogether. The recent budget saw a further promise to raise the personal allowance to £10,000 next year.
George said, "We need to make work pay again. I particularly welcome the fact that 3,129 people in Camborne and Redruth have been taken out of tax altogether because it makes no sense to tax those on the lowest incomes."
