George was attending Tesco’s South-West local sourcing event which placed nineteen of Tesco’s suppliers from across the South West, including several from Cornwall, in the spotlight and gave them a chance to display their fantastic products, ranging from beer to popcorn and discuss the growing importance of locally sourced food in retail.
MPs from across the South West gathered to meet with suppliers from their constituencies, with Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset all represented. Tesco now sell more than 4,000 local lines in the UK and work with more than 400 local suppliers, and this continues to grow. George said “This has been a great celebration of British food and drink. Some of our most iconic brands are based in the South West and it has been really positive to come together and show support for our food and farming businesses”.
